About Michael Hopkins

Michael Hopkins Visit the, Michael Hopkins Caricatures Online Store! Michael Hopkins, "Caricaturist Extraordinaire", was born and raised in Renton Washington, just a few miles Southwest of Seattle. Michael grew up inspired by the art of Chuck Jones, Al Hirschfeld and former Seattle Post Intelligencer cartoonist Bob McCausland...and of course, the humor of Seattle icon, J.P. Patches. As far back as Michael can remember he had a pen in his hand. Michael began drawing in the 3rd grade by creating "art" down the sides of his classwork (no doubt inspired by Mad Magazine) and continued to cultivate his art throughout his school years. At Charles A. Lindbergh High School (in Renton, Washington) Michael was introduced to the art of Pen & Ink by his Art Instructor and Mentor, Ebo Okiyama. Since then, Michael has continued to perfect his craft. Michael currently resides in the "Biggest Little City in the World", Reno Nevada, where he continues to create his unique works of art. All of Michael's caricatures are drawn using the classic art form of pen and black India Ink. Due to the advancement and ease of technology, this classic form of drawing is becoming a lost art, one which Michael is perfecting with each stroke of his pen. Michael's unique drawings have been published and exhibited all over the world.
