"When I was a child, my friend and I gathered in front of a small black and white television in his bedroom and watched the adventures of, Captain Kirk, Spock, Doctor McCoy and the rest of the crew of the Star Ship Enterprise. I still watch the reruns today, but I believe the inspiration behind my caricature of the Enterprise, had it's roots from watching that small black and white television".

Michael grew up inspired by the art of Chuck Jones, Al Hirschfeld and former Seattle Post Intelligencer cartoonist Bob McCausland...and of course, the humor of Seattle icon, J.P. Patches. As far back as Michael can remember he had a pen in his hand. Michael began drawing in the 3rd grade by creating "art" down the sides of his classwork (no doubt inspired by Mad Magazine) and continued to cultivate his art throughout his school years.
